IBM i Road Map & Latest Features – Steve Will

If you run your business on today’s IBM i operating system, you are probably a long-time user of the platform which started in 1988 as the AS/400, and became the iSeries in 2000. Well, it’s 2018, so you might be wondering: Where is the platform going? What are its next steps? How does IBM’s overall strategy affect the strategy of IBM i? Steve Will, Chief Architect for IBM i, will discuss all of these topics, and talk about recent announcements and new capabilities of the IBM i operating system, which offers the total integration option on IBM’s Power Systems. Its heritage of stability, security and low total cost of ownership lays the foundation for its success today and into the future.

Steve Will is the Chief Architect for the IBM i operating system, which runs on IBM Power Systems. Steve has worked on IBM i and its predecessors since before the creation of the AS/400, and is currently responsible for setting the strategy of the IBM i operating system, as well as deciding which enhancements will be implemented. He is an award-winning speaker, author of one of the most popular IBM i blogs (“You and i” ), and is one of the most sought-after voices at customer briefings and events.

Darren Anderson President of CPS Technology SolutionsDarren Anderson is the Chief Architect and President at CPS. Darren has worked on IBM i for its entire life and AS/400 and System 34/36/38 before that. He works everyday with customers providing technical expertise, guidance and implementation for the their IBM i needs. Darren is the architect of CPS’s IBM i data center that hosts over 120 customers all over the world. He has also has been an instructor and spoken to many audiences over the years on IBM topics.

Ben interacts with customers on a daily basis and has an excellent understanding of the security challenges companies face on a daily basis. With vast experience with firewalls, UTMs, anti-virus and ransomware protection Ben is able to provide audiences with valuable and relevant information.

He is currently pursuing an MSCS at Georgia Tech in Computing Systems and loves talking about cyber security and sharing experiences that clients have faced.
